My earliest European ancestors in North America were probably Nicolas Marsolet and Louis Hébert. However, one of my 8th great-grandmothers, the wife of Philippe Mius d'Entremont, was a Native North American of the Mi'kmaq tribe. Unfortunately, there is uncertainty about her name. She may have been called Kjipuktuk. In modern times, the name Marie Coyote Blanc has been assigned to her, but there is no evidence that this was actually her name. Her ancestors would obviously been in North America long before Europeans arrived.
